Procrastination, why you are a pro!

 Most of us think of Procrastination as a rabbit hole, checking emails, social media, ways to further distract your self from doing something that you should be and nothing more.

Being honest with your self is the first step and taking on this monster that never seems to go away!

 

Know your enemy, make a list of to dos when you run into the  to avoids…

 

Our types
I work well under pressure, aka if I have less time I wont get caught in the perfection gap…. The problem you create getting started…the solution to due by date is your get started date…. 

Im so Lazy- Aka your always tired because you do a lot still but also avoid work while telling your self your lazy.  The problem is being tired…set time aside to rest and build energy as to know your not tired or lazy, you took time out and you are refreshed and ready to start again. 

Im to busy to get this task done. Your to busy to get it done but you keep adding more and more and more so that you can avoid getting it done. You are great at getting a task done if your not avoiding it… Stop and ask your self why you are avoiding this task ?

 

The shinny balloon, like many entrepreneurs we want to make it big, we have great ideas that get us excited and ready to go, we start them, share them, quit them….because we see a new shiny balloon. Get a note book just for these ideas. We can start them as soon as we review them along with all of are other ideas once we finish the one we are on.

We know some of the paths and solutions we go down to correct our procrastination but where does it really start ? Many arguments about if procrastination is a thought process or emotion. I say its both. It’s a pattern or habit that we form because in some way or some form we felt it worked for us. When did this pattern begin ? Is it still working for us? Probably not if we are here now.

We know that we don’t reach out and touch a hot stove because Ouch Pain! Well what if we view some of our task as feelings, not only how we will feel when its done but how we might invision the pain we would be going through to accomplish that task ? Ouch Pain! Again that means no touchy, we wont touch the stove and we wont touch the task.

How can we get past wanting to touch a hot emotional stove ? Find out what makes it so hot, what about this task hurts and why does it hurt, Feel your feels! Make progress. What do we tell our self about the task, what do we tell our self about our selves and our worthiness, maybe we don’t deserve to have what this leads up to ? Maybe we will just fail like we always do ? Where does that come from ? Once everything is sorted and we are ready to start, lets remember our mind will never stop talking…. It just dosent. Lets give it small task to do. Grab a pencil, Grab a piece of paper, write a sentence, write another sentence, Maybe grab a hammer, find a box of nails, put on a tool belt… etc etc Just give giving small task to your mind instead of focusing on the giant task….its the old eat a elephant one bite at a time…. Ive never eaten a elephant but ive done task much bigger then one, you can to.
